When dinner with a group of friends was coming to an end, Corey purposefully lingered around, waiting on his moment to walk Kala to her car. It was a leap of faith he took when deciding to ask Kala, then his friend, if she'd like to go on a date with him. He wasn't sure what she would say, the only thing he knew was that she was worth taking that leap. Kala thought highly of her friend Corey and accepted his offer, thinking to herself how cute it was that he seemed especially nervous to ask. Kala and Corey left the restaurant unknowing of what was to come in their future together.
Maybe it was the ease of conversation that flowed between them, or the way she couldn't take her eyes off of his that compelled Kala to leave space in her heart for her feelings to flourish. But what Kala will always remember from their first date was the attention Corey paid long before this date took place. Weeks prior, Kala celebrated her birthday with her family and friends, Corey included of course! As a gift, one of Kala's closest friends gave her a bag of Almond Joy, Kala's favorite candy. Corey noticed the excitement on Kala's face and took a mental note. After dinner, the two continued their date at an ice cream shop. As Kala was walking toward the shop, she hears Corey shout, "wait!" When she turns around, what does Corey have in his hand for her? That's right. An Almond Joy. *Sigh* how sweet it is!
It was never the Almond Joy that captivated Kala's heart. It was that he had been paying attention, long before this first date. He cared about her and even the simplest act of kindness radiated nothing but love.
We decided to shoot their engagement photos at sunrise, a time of day that naturally feels sweeter. The world is quiet. The light from the sun rising is warm and inviting.
During the session, I encouraged Kala and Corey to enjoy the moments together as they were happening. To relax and look around and take in all of the beauty that was surrounding us. It's hard to say no to that, especially in a place as serene as this!
Words can't express how lovely this time spent with Kala and Corey was. Maybe it was the sunrise and quiet world. Maybe it was how their love unfolded naturally right in front of my camera. Thank you, Kala and Corey, for inviting me into this truly special time in your lives. I look forward to seeing you again in November!

Welcome to a Saturday evening rehearsal dinner honoring Katie and Cody!
If you follow me on social medias like Facebook and Instagram, you may have already seen a post about how exciting it was for me having extra time to capture the details of their wedding day!
But before I get to that, I want to share some of the cute details from the night before the big day.
Fun, delicious, southern! Let's dive into some photographs.
The sweet couple while mingling with friends and family, after rehearsing how their ceremony would flow.
Katie's birthday was the same day as their rehearsal! How cool is that?!
Katie, Cody, their families, and Boston, Georgia treated me well this Saturday evening. It was a fun night of sweet toasts, birthday wishes, and an abundance of southern finger foods. And just as a "Save-the-date" would remind you, so shall this blog entry. Wedding to follow. ;)
