Dani and Mike's wedding day was Sunday, October 8 in Sugar Hill, Georgia. The town is located 30 miles northeast of the city of Atlanta. Their venue, Ashton Gardens, was romantic and perfect.
Pampering and prepping began at their hotel during the morning hours. I loved the shot of Hillary's mixed metals makeup brushes. So glam! ;)
Mike is an Army Captain. He and Dani started dating 4 years ago while he was at Fort Benning for IBOLC (Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course). They have been together his entire Army career.
The brides mother helped her get into her stunning gown! You wouldn't believe the number of buttons lining the back of the dress! I've never seen such an intricate, gorgeous design!
This sixpence belonged to Dani's grandmother and was her "something old" she carried with her on her wedding day, symbolizing good luck. Many women in her family have carried this coin with them on their wedding day, making it that much more meaningful.
Dani and Mike decided on a first look before traveling to their venue... It rained the entire day of their wedding so they opted to share the moment inside the hotel lobby. There was a few cool things we realized about the rain. On the day we did their engagement session, it was raining. The day she found her wedding gown, it was also raining. It must be a sign of good luck. ;)
Once we arrived at Ashton Gardens, the ladies spent a few moments touching up in the bridal suite before the ceremony started. Their adorable ring bearer loved his Ring Security Pin. I mean really, how cute is he?!
Following the ceremony, the guests were invited to a cocktail hour. As was everything about the day, the cocktail hour was thoughtfully and beautifully decorated.
While the guests mingled and enjoyed the start of the evening, Mike and Dani spent time getting photos with their VIP's...
Sharp dressed men!
Before the reception, Chase and I had the opportunity to spend a little extra time with the newlyweds...
The reception space was dazzling. So many elegant elements, it truly felt like something you'd see in a fairytale!
Each setting on the table had a miniature pie box with the guests name printed on them. The pumpkin on the label signifies a tradition between Dani and Mike. On their first date, they carved pumpkins together. Every year on that date in October, they carve pumpkins as a way to celebrate that early time in their relationship!
Instead of a traditional signing book, Dani and Mike used an Instax Mini instant photo camera to document the guests at their wedding...
As the newly married Mr. & Mrs. Sheahen entered their reception, they were greeted by a Saber Arch, an Army wedding tradition. To pass through, the couple must kiss, then one of the men tap her on the butt and say, "welcome to the Army, ma'am." Dani recalled the moment, laughing, "Bill smacked me really hard and it made me jump!"
Their love is beautiful... so is the back of her dress!!!!
One of my favorite moments of the evening... After cutting their cake, Mike fed Dani a bite but she was so focused on her bite of cake, she forgot to feed him his. Her expression once she realized it was priceless!!!
A toast to their closest friends and families...
The groom shared a dance with his sweet mother...
The love that surrounded this beautiful couple was infectious...
Dani also shared a special dance with her stepfather, a man who's been a part of her life since she was a young girl... so sweet!
And it was time to shake it out on the dance floor! The flower girl and ring bearer were ready to celebrate!
Nothing like tossing the groom into the air and almost dropping him... haha
The groom and his beautiful sister...
I couldn't stop obsessing over the brides bouquet, the table settings and how it all looked together... it was magical!
Bouquet tossing to a group of beautiful ladies!
Sharing their last dance on their wedding night...
Time for a bubble exit! These bubble wands were handcrafted by none other than the bride and groom, the night before the wedding!
Mike was a fan of the bubbles... ;) POP!
To Dani & Mike, thank you from the bottom of my heart for welcoming Chase and I into your lives to capture such an incredible day! We wish you nothing but the BEST in your years to come and look forward to seeing you again in the future!!!!
A special thank you to the amazing team that brought this incredible day to life!
