Nika and Dewitt said their vows on Saturday, September 23 at Macon Terminal Station, one of the coolest venues for a wedding.
Nika and Dewitt first met through Nika's best friend, back when they were still in high school. Remember the days of having a group of friends all on one phone call on the landline? Nika and Dewitt ended up on one of those together and were the last ones still talking at the end of the call. They officially met at a bowling alley a month later.
It was only a matter of time before the two became best friends. Sharing things with each other they hadn't shared with anyone else was the foundation of their friendship and relationship.
"One thing that we've always bonded over is music. When we were in college we would travel back and forth to Carrollton and Atlanta. During these car rides we would make up different music games to play to make the time pass by. For one game we would put our phones on shuffle and make up a story for the songs. So each song that played had to tie in with the last. When it rained we would turn the radio off sometimes and take turns singing songs. The person not singing would be in charge of the windshield wiper speed. The person singing would use the windshield wiper speed to dictate the tempo that they sang the song at. Of course the tempo changed at various points of the songs. We're weird and we love it." - Dewitt
Nika and Dewitt even graduated from the University of West Georgia together in December of 2013. Following the graduation, they celebrated with their loved ones at the clubhouse of the apartment complex Nika had been working at. After they opened a few gifts, Dewitt began what seemed to be a few kind words to thank everyone for coming, but it wasn't that at all. He was actually proposing to Nika.
The ceremony and reception was beautifully constructed by the incredible team of m&h Decorating and Design. We can't say enough how wonderful they are at creating a dreamy atmosphere for a wedding.
The seats were full and it was time to begin. Y'all. The flower girl and ring bearer stole everyone's hearts!!!
Dewitt's emotional reaction to seeing his bride coming down the aisle was priceless. The sweetest moment of the day!
The couple wrote statements of love to preface their traditional vows and it was an awesome touch that added a little more of their personalities into their day!
I love this shot the bride and her mother! What a precious bond <3
After the wedding party and family photos, we spent a little time with the couple before the reception.
Oh, hello King and Queen! amirite?
The reception fun began with the wedding party introductions. Each bridesmaid and groomsman was introduced in and made their presence known!
After the dances, they cut their cake... Also, can we talk about how DOPE this cake is?! I'm living for the brush stroke look!!!
And of course, the cake topper... "mutual weirdness forever" ... sigh! Love it!
Are they not the cutest couple?! I think yes...
After the cake was cut, a few friends and family members gave a toast to the newlyweds...
The evening was full of entertainment ;)
Before the couple headed off from the reception, they tossed the garter and bouquet!
Just as Dewitt was about to go for the garter, one of the kiddo's made her way up to watch front and center - but was caught just in time.
Have you ever seen a more inspiring garter toss? This was one of my favorite shots of the evening.
And they were off! Sent off by the sweetest family and friends...
To Nika and Dewitt, thank you both so much for welcoming us into your lives and trusting us to capture your memories! We had a blast with you guys, your friends and your families on your wedding day!!!
