Once upon a morning in Florida, I awoke with two gentle monsters closing in on me. It was dark, just shy of daybreak.
Giggling and the patter of miniature monster feet were approaching. I, fumbling my glasses, was trying to clear the fog in my eyes to prepare for what was coming.
One now at my right. The other to my left.
Startled, yet patient I stared blankly, unknowing what would come next.
The silence was broken by the wee rascal.
"Header, can we play with the iPad now?"
It was then, at that very moment, that a tiny sliver of sunlight beamed through the window nearby and I caught a glimpse of the two cheerful kiddos.
Spooked, no more. Amused, indeed.
