It was Christmastime of 2013 when Rebecca decided to meet up with a group of friends at a local bar. That's where she first met Alex, the guy who, unbeknownst at the time, would be the love of her life...her groom. That evening, she and Alex engaged in casual conversation as they mingled with friends and at the end of the night, went their separate ways. It wasn't until four months later that they would meet again. Reunited with their circle of mutual friends, Rebecca and Alex immersed themselves into conversation once again but that night it was different. The two of them were intrigued by one another and really hit it off. The very next day, Rebecca left for California to be there for 5 months. Although she was away from home for that long, they made a point to talk to each other every day. One month after being in California, Rebecca made a quick trip home to see Alex for two days. She laughs remembering their "first date" being a trip to Walmart. She went with Alex to grab things he'd need for a cruise he had coming up. The next night the two went to dinner and a movie. When Alex took Rebecca back home, he told her he would wait for her. *melt* And that's what he did. Four months later when she arrived back home, they officially began dating.
When we first arrived, the sun had not showed her face yet, so while we waited, they danced...
One month after they began dating, Rebecca knew Alex was the man she would spend the rest of her life with. And no matter what, Alex always wanted to be by her side. The love he has for her just radiates from the both of them.
It wasn't hard to see how head over heels these two were for each other...
On July 28th, Rebecca's 27th birthday, she'd come home exhausted from traveling all day, immediately got cozy and fell asleep. Alex was working all day but of course showed up to see her that afternoon. When he walked in, she was sitting on the couch, still relaxed and cozy. He set her present in another room, greeted her and wanted to hear all about the trip she'd just gotten home from. He was a bit nervous, anxious, different. He was DYING to give her the gift he'd brought her.
When he came back into the room he was carrying a box and handed it to Rebecca, sitting down beside her on the couch. As she opened it, she noticed it was a beautiful diamond band. When Alex told her it was her birthday ring, Rebecca was a bit confused. He said he had a card for her so he walked back out of the room to get it. Frantically, she tried to get the ring to go onto her right hand, refusing to put it on the left because she was not engaged! When it wouldn't fit on the right hand, she put the birthday ring on the left and told him she loved it, thinking to herself there was no way there could be an engagement ring. She was 27 with a "birthday ring" she thought, feeling a little bratty.
Her confusion grew as she read the birthday card. Alex wrote in the card about how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. It was filled with some of the sweetest words she'd ever read. When she lowered her card, Alex was there in front of her, more nervous than ever, on one knee holding her engagement ring. "Will you marry me?" came next, followed with a lot of, "is this real?!" ;) Later that evening, the newly engaged couple met their families out for dinner to celebrate. It was a night she will never forget.
The number 7... A symbol Rebecca wears around her neck close to her heart. One that represents family, love, loss and remembrance. In 2000, Rebecca's family lost her older brother tragically. On the morning I spent with Rebecca and Alex, they asked if we could incorporate him into a portrait.
What a beautiful couple they make...
Rebecca and Alex joked, laughed and played together all morning as the sun rose from behind the trees.
How sweet it is! ...
One quality about Alex that makes Rebecca fall in love over and over is his go with the flow nature. He is always game for whatever arrises and that is something she cherishes. During my time with them, they welcomed each idea, running with it and making it their own.
Alex adores Rebecca's kind heart and her willingness to help others. No matter what, she's always courteous and friendly.
We ended our time together hanging out with their sweet pups who were amazing sports at being ring bearers ;)
I mean, come on... how sweet are they!?
Many thanks to Alex and Rebecca for sharing your precious story with me! I wish you both nothing but a beautiful, happy life as you take this next step of your journey together!
